Happy November!

You know when it's been a while since your last optometrist visit when your eye doctor says "Wow, how are you able to see with these!?" (holding up current glasses).   With my recent visit to the doctor+new prescription=these new glasses!   I went to pick out glasses with eyes dilated...and well, the ones I picked out ended up being Ray Bans(I could not tell at the time). The price I thought I saw was completely different from the actual price and not at all affordable even with insurance.  So, I left without ordering new glasses to find a free glasses coupon online at firmoo.com in my email inbox.  So, same style as the Ray Bans I wanted but FREE!  Yay!

In other news, we are leaving to go overseas with my husbands high school choir in just 2 days!  This trip has played a biiiggg part in why blog posts have become scarce.  I have had some great outfits in the past month, just no one to take my picture (husband off doing choir rehearsals, fundraisers, ect).  It's either that or it is too dark...I get home from work around 7pm, bleh.

With that, I hope to start putting out more posts in the future!

Happy November, folks...we will be back from our trip to Germany, Czech Republic, and Austria December 1st!!!

I leave you with a lovely picture of a snow topped mountain out my kitchen window...

Hangin' Around

Just bumming around town for this Columbus Day.
Went out for my free Starbucks rewards drink after getting my hair dyed ombre (my first time to ever have my hair professionally dyed).  I love the results of my ombre hair, the colors are perfect for fall!

What do you think about ombre hair?

Casual with a Side of Bling

As promised...an outfit post (finally)!

This is my favorite type of outfit.  I love the feeling of being somewhat dressed up but comfortable at the same time. The necklace and leopard flats take this casual outfit up a notch, the perfect outfit for running around town!

It's That Time Again....

Well folks, it's that time of the year again.   Fall.

I love this season, but I very much dislike how the sun sets earlier and earlier in the evening.  I now have about a 30 minute window of sunlight after work.  This means it is becoming increasingly harder for me to even think about taking blog photos.  I guess I must resort to the weekends!

Update on my life as of late:
I am 2 months in to my new job as an outpatient therapist at a regional medical hospital here in New Mexico.  I started as a pediatric therapist and am now working both pediatrics and adult rehabilitation and LOVING being able to experience both settings!

Also, I have been hiking quite a bit.  As always, I can't help but share my pictures from my hiking adventures!!

This is from Wheeler Peak, Taos Ski Basin.  Highest mountain in New Mexico at 13,161ft elevation.  This his is in my top 5 favorites, can't wait to go back!

Thanks for stopping by!  Outfit post coming soon!

Magenta and Chambray

Another one of the staples in my closet is this chambray blazer.  Like my military style vest, it seems to go with just about anything.  If you have been a follower of PWP for a while, then you've probably seen this blazer in quite a few of my outfit posts.

I wore this outfit to Santa Fe for a very busy night out.  We went to a friends birthday party and then to watch another friends band play at a restaurant near the plaza.  It was a fun night! I always love an excuse to go out on the town in Santa Fe (I work in SF but I just drive strait to work and back).

Once I got in the car I remembered to remove the hair tie from my wrist!  I keep forgetting I have it on there until after my pictures.

Return of the Military Vest

Have I mentioned how much I love this military vest?
If military vests ever go out of style I will be very sad...and probably still wear them anyway.

This striped shirt alone makes me look wider than I am, so using a vest or blazer cuts off the full view of the striped top and allows me to wear my stripes without looking in the mirror and going "yikes, what happened"!?!?

Mustard and Paisley

I put this outfit together quickly when my husband came home and told me about a 50th anniversary party we were going to for one of his barbershop group members. I quickly scrambled around in my closet and came up with this....

It was warm out, but I wanted something a little more modest (hence the blazer).

P.S. For those who enjoy pictures of my pups, I took this one a couple days ago...

Nature at it's Best

I decided to take a little blogging hiatus over the last few weeks while starting my new job!!  That's right, I have a job as a outpatient pediatric rehab therapist in Santa Fe!  Just starting my 4th week and loving it.  Also, there is talk of making me full time between pediatric rehab and outpatient adult rehab which is perfect being that my dream was to do outpatient adult rehab or outpatient pediatrics and being able to experience both at the same time is a dream come true!

Enough about my new job, I could go on and on about it all day.  I have recently picked up a new hobby....backpacking.  Yes, not a very glamorous hobby but it combines my love for hiking with my love for camping all rolled in to one experience.  Here are some photos from my recent backpacking trips....

Backpacking trip to Lake Katherine in the Pecos Wilderness.
This was by far the hardest hike I have ever done with or without the large backpack.  The elevation change was brutal, 8 miles of going up, up, up, and then strait up for the last 2 miles.  At least the hike out was all downhill...
Lake located at ~12,000ft elevation under the peak of Santa Fe Baldy.
Me and Chloe at the lake.

 Aspen Grove
Horny Toad!  I have been looking everywhere for these guys, glad to finally find one.

My 2nd backpacking trip was to Spirit Lake also in the Pecos Wilderness.
This hike was about 12 miles round trip and a much more enjoyable trail to hike with 50lbs on the back.  It was a lovely way to spend the weekend!

Me and the hubs...I think he has his eyes closed.

Learning to Play

I have spent my free time this summer learning to play mandolin!  My husband (playing stand up bass), a friend (playing fiddle) and I decided to start a bluegrass/old time band and we had our first practice session Wednesday...it sounded pretty good! Our goal is to eventually sound good enough to play a set at our local pub on an off night.

This is not my mandolin, it's a friend's "camping mandolin" that I am borrowing....so it is not exactly the best thing to listen to or play.  Hopefully I can own a decent one soon!

Summer Vacation

It has been difficult to think of style and creating blog posts with the amount of visitors we have had at our house in the past month!

Both my in-laws and my family came to visit within the past 4 weeks.
Here are some photos from our adventures a week ago hiking around Colorado and New Mexico...

We climbed a mountain...
 In Southern Colorado.

 Fed the chipmunks.

Discovered petroglyphs (on a trail near my town)....
...and ancient Native American pottery shards and arrow heads (my middle brother).

Then we climbed another mountain (because climbing one wasn't enough). This time in New Mexico.
Did yoga poses on top of said mountain. (my youngest brother)
 (my mom)

Enjoy!

P.S. Outfit post coming soon!!!
